Zinsky Jan,

This is intentional attempt to derail TM work and success, if you asked me. It is Okay to focus on football for one week. Even in the middle of the wars (1st and 2nd World War), soldiers on both sides (Americans, British, French and Germans) ceased fire and had food and drink together (yes, enemies), during Christmas time.

I believe these games can unite our people even more, but some people do not want that. They want divisions so they can take advantage of the muddy water. It has always been that way, and will always remain that way.

It is up to us to see through the rhetoric and propaganda and stand up for what is right.

Qatar got all the fans and FIFA goozpeech with their last minute reversal of beer sales [wink]

Before they had said beer will be served at the stadiums in desginated areas, but today they reversed that decision.
Now you can only get beer(Bud only) with a 'coporate hospitality package' which costs $22000.

This is a WC for the rich!

Impossible situation for the players. There are so many massages against them being there and taking “happy” pictures!!!
I don’t really know what to say. I’m not sure what are they supposed to do. Maybe boycotting Iran would have been better for all of them…

"Do they expect a foreigner to lead the revolution?" [smile]

Well said Hamvatan jAn.

I too think this shaming practice has gone too far. If someone is not vocal or as vocal as likes of Karimi or Daei is shamed ("bi-sharaf". It is good to praise those who outwardly side with people. There are different circumstances for each person and we should not judge them at face value unless they are out vocally one way or another.

This is IRAN's TM not IRI's.

For example, the expectations on CQ. Do they expect a foreigner to lead the revolution? That is not his job.

On a much more fun note: Biden administration decided to give Mammad Arreh immunity from all law suits against him for the GhAshoghchi killing. The reason, they stated, is his position in the government. [biggrin]

This is why Democrats are so lame. Koon khodeshoon ham gohiye. Now, why should Trump not feel that he can get away with murder?

I would agree with the model under normal circumstances. But with the political pressures, I am not sure what will happen. I still am predicting in line with that model.

NEW: Oxford mathematical model predicts route to the men's FIFA World Cup ⚽️🏆

The model - created by Oxford Mathematics researcher Joshua Bull - forecasts:

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 Wales to go out in the group stages
🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 England to lose in the quarter-final
🇦🇷 Argentina vs Brazil in the semi-final
🇧🇷 Brazil to beat Belgium in the final

The model simulated the group stages one million times and took the most common outcomes.
The algorithm then simulated each knockout game 100,000 times.
The model has been created by analysing team rating data from http://eloratings.net, focusing on every first-team international game since 2018.
In this video, Joshua explains the model: https://lnkd.in/e89BcYkM

The pressure on the players is very high. It’s hard enough to prepare for WC, playing some of the best teams in the world and now all this political drama they have to deal with.
I don’t expect much from them on or off the pitch. I don’t think they will have a good tournament.

Imagine all the people who will be on the streets after each victory. These KAseh Daghtar az Ash are actually trying to prevent that without a realization!

Going to the players and yell at them bisharaf or make suggestions for political activities is the worst thing one can do. IMO

I agree with Faramarz. This tournament is an opportunity to bring our people together and unite them even more. If we are successful in advancing this time, it will stay with us for the rest of our lives and something that we can be proud of as a nation. This is probably one reason the government is never happy with our football success.

So, in my opinion, our team needs to focus on this tournament for the next couple of weeks. The protests are not going to go away. Just imagine how the people will act afterwards, when our team returns home triumphantly.

I find the expectations from our footballers to be unreasonable and hopeless. No revolution has been won because of football. If people want to revolt, they should be doing that on the streets of Tehran. Becoming a keyboard hero from twelve thousand kilometers away and demanding that the footballer whose entire livelihood (including their lives) depends on what they do in a team that is entirely integrated into the government is neither honorable nor fun. It will do nothing for this revolution in the long run.

I think people should let the footballers do what they are in Qatar to do and instead of demanding inconsequential gestures, protect them from the politics. You see that every reporter from England is asking them about the politics. Do not repeat what the enemies of Iran are doing. Revolution can only happen on the streets of our country.

Shahryar,

I don’t know. There is something different about this. Iran has been through a lot but for some reason, this time people are just angry and frustrated …
