Hence, his words highlight the severity of the crisis. The BBC reports, “The two-term reformist president, who served between 1997 and 2005, described “woman, life, freedom” as a “beautiful slogan,” and said that it showed Iranian society was moving toward a better future.” He also rebuked the ongoing persecution of students and the actions of the security forces.

Comments: THE END IS NEAR The sister of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei reportedly has written a letter condemning her brother’s "despotic caliphate" while also calling on the Revolutionary Guards to "lay down their weapons." The comments from Badri Hosseini Khamenei, who lives in Iran, were shared by her France-based son on Twitter, according to Reuters. The comments come as the Middle Eastern country continues to be roiled by protests following the September death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini while in police custody. "I think it is appropriate now to declare that I oppose my brother's actions and I express my sympathy with all mothers mourning the crimes of the Islamic Republic, from the time of Khomeini to the current era of the despotic caliphate of Ali Khamenei," Badri Hosseini Khamenei said in the letter, referencing Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, the founder of the Iranian regime. "Ali Khamenei's Revolutionary Guards and mercenaries should lay down their weapons as soon as possible and join the people before it is too late," the letter added.

Comments: Confusion over Iran’s religious police as women drop hijab it has appeared for weeks that enforcement of the nation’s strict dress code has been scaled back, with more women seen in public not wearing the required headscarf.
Comments: Tuesday was the second day of a three-day strikes call for protest against the Iran’s regime, an action meant to cripple the government and strengthen the protest movement. People in many cities across Iran kept their shops closed for the second day on Tuesday before they poured out on streets to hold protest rallies. Numerous shops and small businesses did not open their doors to express solidarity with the ongoing protests. During the day, rallies and sit-ins were held at numerous university campuses across the country with the students at Tehran’s Sharif University booing the capital’s mayor Alireza Zakani over his remarks during a talk where he blamed foreign countries for the uprising in Iran. Security forces went door by door in market streets and bazaars and sprayed pro-regime slogans on the doors of stores that were on strike. Some people on social media said their marking of shops was similar to the actions by Nazi Germany, in which security agents marked the stores of Jewish citizens.
