West "groomed" Khomeini?

Well there was an uprise against the Shah by left right Mojahed and clergy. With the way weak shah got scared and eased things in the last 4 months before the revolution things got worse for him and very much everyone rallied behind the movement and with the strikes in big industries the government became dysfunction.

With the left and toodeh operation on the street, Germany France England and Jimmy Carter decided that the best tactic would be to support Khomeini as there was no hope to keep the weak shah. Maybe through a coup.

The talks between the West and Khomeini started about two months before the revolution and Khomeini promised the West that he will continue to have normal relationship with USA. And Shah who was a nokar and servant of USA listened to the big boss and left the country.

West sends its influencers to iran to force the Army to declare Neutrality with no attempts of a coup and then the Pahlavi Regime topples.

And then 7 months later Khod-Eh happened. And now we are here.

I’m not sure Shah had a chance. The West also didn’t want a democratic government in Iran. I’m not sure people understood that either. They wanted change and were given an alternative groomed by the West.

What do you think the West should have done? Support Shah, backed Bakhtiar, or should have given more time to assess the situation before jumping to conclusion in Guadeloup.Any other alternative should have they supported or go with the will of people?

Shah had a complex relationships with the West, especially America. He saw USA as a friend and a savior. After all, they brought him to power twice.
He wanted more from them as a friend not quite understanding that America can’t be a friend. No major superpower will ever be a friend of a smaller/developing country. They might be allies or take sides during a conflict but not because they are friends but solely to protect their interests.
America, on the other hand, looked at Shah & Iran as a good customer. They demanded royalty. For a good while the relationship worked as plan. The last 5-10 years of Shah regime, he started asking for more. Raising the price of oil while negotiating better prices for weapons and technology coming from the West.
The perfect customer was becoming more and more problematic.
It all happened during the Cold War. Soviet Union was expanding their influence in the Middle East and Iran was one area both sides wanted the most.
Unfortunately for Iranians, the West looked for a system to combat the communist regime. Religion seemed like a perfect buffer. 40+ years later we are where we are!
I might be 100% wrong! I have been wrong before and I’m sure that will not stop anytime soon…

Iran has hanged three people on drug charges amid continued criticism of its execution practices and increased death penalty sentences.
The three men, identified as Shahab Mansournasab, Samad Geravand and Saeed Geravand, were hanged after more than 39 kilogrammes (86 pounds) of heroin and precursors and processing equipment were confiscated from them, the judiciary’s official website said on Sunday.

The news comes one day after Iran’s judiciary announced it had executed a man identified as Shahrouz “Alex” Sokhanvari for running a human trafficking network and prostitution ring active across the region.

On Friday, Iran executed three men in a case linked with the protests that had erupted across the country after the September death in custody of Mahsa Amini, a 22-year-old woman who was arrested by morality police for allegedly not adhering to a mandatory dress code.

The men were hanged after being convicted of “moharebeh” or “waging war against God” for allegedly killing a police officer and two members of the paramilitary Basij group during the unrest.

Camera placement in the stadium is like how it used to be in Iran. :)

I would have preferred to see him score more than just one goal without a PK, but I'll take it.

I think Taremi is becoming the Porto Franchise player. Not sure they will let him go elsewhere.

It seems Taremi might ended up as the best Iranian footballer ever playing in Europe. Daei, Hashemian and Kia are definitely top 4.
Taremi has another 3-5 years. He should choose his team carefully if he decides to leave Portugal.

Teraktor is such a strange team. For years now, it has done better away than at home. This season, they also had more wins away than at home. The wins at home was mostly against weaker teams. Their best scorer, Reza Asad, scored 72% of his goals away!
