Comments: Another stat for people with nothing to do!!! Foreign buying of U.S. homes fell for a sixth straight year, sinking to the lowest level on record, though some signs of turnaround are starting to emerge. International buyers purchased 84,600 U.S. homes in the year ended in March, down 14% from the prior year, according to a report released Tuesday by the National Association of Realtors. The dollar volume of residential real estate purchased by these buyers fell 9.6% to $53.3 billion, also a record low since NAR began collecting the data in 2011. Foreign buyers pulled back for some of the same reasons that Americans did, including housing prices that have been close to record highs and limited inventory for sale. Foreigners also were deterred by the stronger dollar. “With home prices having risen in the U.S. in the 2020-2021 period so substantially…people are just priced out,” said Lawrence Yun, NAR’s chief economist. Still, the decline in international purchases was less than the 23% decline that U.S. existing-home sales posted over the same period. Foreign buyers are more likely to pay with cash, making them less responsive to steeper mortgage rates compared with domestic buyers.

Comments: And even more crazy is that most of these homes could be over 100 years old and most cases never been renovated!!! And as we all remember from old homes back home, it could have 8 bedrooms and only one bathroom... My grandparent's home was a massive U shape home with multiple connecting room separated by curtains (not doors). It had a massive kitchen with wood burning ovens, a large dark room used as the cooling area for fruits and vegetables. Ab-Ambar and multi room basement with small water holes for whatever reason. With all that, it only had one bathroom all the way at the other side of the yard, all by itself. No running water at the bathroom with virtually a hole in the ground! This massive house had no shower. They had to use the public hammam for a family of 14 or so. Good old days...
Comments: Faramarz:) we don't have these types of my generation here in Australia. These are mostly in Los Angeles. Also you should have seen Australian girls here after the women national team beat Canada. All went crazy. New Zealanders wanted us to lose.
Comments: So true about Boston. About an hour drive won’t get you much relief from the crazy prices. With that said, going from downtown at almost 2,000/sqft to suburbs at $600/sqft is pretty significant even though still crazy expensive.

Comments: Last week, in northern Italy they had golf ball-size hail and in Southern Italy they had record breaking heat of 116 degrees in Sicily with wild fires burning its main airport down in Catania. Welcome to the world Trump wanted.
Comments: I do not think any of the California cities r like that. Here, half hour away from La Jolla or Del Mar, gives you significant savings.
Comments: Problem with Boston is that unlike most other expensive cities as you drive away from the expensive areas, the price does not really drop a whole lot. If you want to live in a significantly lower priced home in Boston, you have to live some two hours away from the city center!
Comments: Farid. I think that pretty much sums it up.
Comments: In terms of cities, I heard that with the decline of San Francisco, San Diego is now #3 in the country. That is driving building homes faster and many more of them. Traffic is starting to look as shitty as Los Angeles.

Comments: We do expect too much from our football. This is 2023 and it seems one of the major problems that could actually delay the league is what to do with female fans!!! People in charge wanted to separate them from men in the stadiums but realized that the stadiums are in such a bad shape that building a barrier might be the least of their worries!
Comments: I can watch most things. All the stuff you guys post. Some times though I get profile restriction messages. Not sure why. I do not have an instagram profile.
Comments: Faramarz, You don’t need one but it makes it easier. As long as you can watch stuff people send you, it’s all good!
Comments: You guys all seem to have an instagram account. Do I need to get one as well? I can access stuff using the links that you guys post, but do not have the ability to see anything else in there. That Stupid bit was funny Zinsky.
