Comments: Zinsky jAn, I like AmrikA setizi because justifies all manners of sin. The labeling will not end. It is how they dismiss you and the merit in your arguments. The important question though my friend is why do you care about the labeling? Why do you honor that court?
I think Farid has an important point that regardless of how much people screen and label, the majority is us, those in the middle. I love the don't like it, leave argument. It misses on all the basics that this country promises. If this country actually stuck with its principles, those would be the first who had to depart because they would be infringing on people's freedom of opinion/speech.

Comments: Aaghaa Zinsky, I would say that the majority of Iranians are actually in the middle. But those who shout the loudest (the supporters of the west and the east) are doing all the labeling. So, all of us in the middle do carry some sort of label all the time.
Comments: Faramarz, Well put. Another issue is everyone has to be either this way or that way. No Middle left. If someone complains about the West and its treatment of Iran or anywhere in the world, he/she must love Russia or China!!! I, personally, have never supported Russia or China and their involvement in our country or region. I know enough about history to know they don’t give a damn about anyone. On the other hand, if I say anything about America or the west and how it shaped the Middle East and ruined so many lives, I must be leftists or support them!!! If nothing else, age should help get out of meaningless arguments easier but not for everyone.

Comments: Obsession with east and west, my opinion is that people do it for different reasons. Recently, I have seen people favor the east because it "supports" the government in Iran. These are supporters of the current government primarily. They like the east as a friend of a friend. This is clear. But I would love to hear what members of the Tudeh organization, for example, would have to say as to why they supported the soviet union back then. Now, supporters of the west are quite interesting. There are a number of reasons ranging from vanity (I am in america, therefore I am better) to I want RP at any cost and will go to bed with anyone as long as they help RP become shAh. The latter are a lot like Trump in morality and often are supporters of Trump as well because they find nothing wrong with his morality. Generally, these folks usually have quite a bit of insecurity which drives their bias. This can be social insecurity that drives their vanity or insecurity in general that drives them to identify with the superpower. Regardless of the reasons, supporters of the west are in a very difficult position. We have to understand that. The foreign policy of the west in the past 40+ years has totally ruined all the claims that the west had on morality, humanity, democracy, freedom of speech, you name it. Whatever that was left was buried by Trump and everything that followed. The west's position has become obviously indefensible. So, now, the only argument the supporters can resort to is labeling and name calling. In other words, character assassination and smearing. I have found no useful discourse with any member of this group in the last several years. It is a waste of time.
Comments: Zinsky jAn, labeling is a common strategy when you have a losing argument. Instead of discussing the issues, you label the other side to discredit him. I have seen this done uncountable number of times in the history of this page. It is also what upsets people the most. After so many years of dealing with it, I just ignore it and do not deal with people who do that. I have come to the realization that they have nothing to contribute.
Comments: One thing we do that bothers me a lot is labeling people. We should be able to have an opinion without getting a label no matter what that is. Most people don’t fit in a box to check. Having an opinion doesn’t mean checking a box!

Comments: Faramarz, I don’t get the obsession with East or West. History is history. We have seen both sides through out history. Both sides have screwed us when they could. One side is more polite than the other but at the end the pain is the same for the country that was rapped. No need to keep trying to justify one side’s actions by saying the other side is worse. The end result is the same.
