Comments: Zinsky jAn, on our internet culture, I would like to add that it unleashes some social harnesses. So, I think often, it allows people to be who they like to be. So, in some ways, it is a mirror of the self. I have yet to see you be annoying or stupid though. So, I think it has to do who you really are deep inside.

Comments: If Iranians realize how much damage religion has caused them, they would be in much better position. As much as the younger generations try to separate themselves from religion, I still see a guilt they can’t control. It’s not a question of believing in something but following blindly the group that for 1,400 years have done nothing to help them is the problem.
Comments: Funny/sad!!!
Comments: Something I read recently that says a lot about our online culture (myself included)! “On the internet you can be anything you want. It’s strange that so many people choose to be annoying and stupid!”

Comments: Big win for the bog boy from Iran in 130K GR wrestling today. The heavyweight wrestling is becoming more and more like Sumo, they just push each other. These guys can make a lot of money and become gods if they can beat the Sumo guys in Japan ![]() https://video.varzesh3.com/video/311447/%DA%A9%D8%B3%D8%A8-%D9%85%D8%AF%D8%A7%D9%84-%D8%B7%D9%84%D8%A7-%D8%A7%D9%85%DB%8C%D9%86-%D9%85%DB%8C%D8%B1%D8%B2%D8%A7%D8%B2%D8%A7%D8%AF%D9%87
Comments: Love Chomsky! There is not an analysis that he has done that I do not like. some I disagree but still like. If you guys have not seen his videos on theory of development of language in humans, I strongly recommend it. Fascinating! On Ukraine, I do agree that US' support for Ukraine is clearly to maintain the war rather than to end it. Totally frustrated that I have to pay for it. I feel sorry for the people of Ukraine and do know some people from the country who are crying foul. My response has been, I am sorry my friend I agree with you, but where were you during the decades of conflict in the middle east? The source of the problem is one and the same.

Comments: Agha Zinsky, here is my take on war in Ukraine. I think this war was coming for a long time at leats since Nato went back on its word of not expanding eastwards. So, US has definitely been pushing Russia into a war for a long time. This push did not have a focus for some time but then it started focusing onto Ukraine. As for the US helping Ukraine, I think US looks at all wars from an investment point of view. The typical issues like human loss of life does not make it into their equation. Ukraine war is not an exception. The provide barely enough for Ukraine not to collapse and the puppet Zelensky government can survive but not enough to make any dent in the war. At the end of the day, in spite of temporary back and forth, some of the Ukraine will be gone to Russia. In the process the military complex here will make money in US government having to spend more funds on new weapons and resources. Ukraine will also serve as a home shopping network-like place for weaponry. Based on the Ukraine experience other countries may decide to buy some of the same weapons. So, all good for everyone, except for people of Ukraine who have to bare the lives and people in united states who have to fund the war.
Comments: The new Iranian revolution hasn’t died out. It’s only getting started. By Atena Daemi September 21, 2023 at 8:08 a.m. EDT While the resistance might seem more quiet today, the greatest hope remains in the streets — in the knowing glances exchanged among people who have tasted rebellion, in the expressions of solidarity on the bread line, in the spontaneous compliments extended to women who dare to appear on subways, buses and city streets without a hijab. This is what Amini died for, and to those who would silence our voices, we say: There is no going back. https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2023/09/21/iran-revolution-hijab-mahsa-amini/

Comments: The Ukraine war seems to have made the situation in American political life more complicated. 1st question is the role of US in starting the conflict (not the war itself). Did US push Russia into war? I’m not fully convinced that Putin needed much help but what do I know?!? 2nd question is about US support for Ukraine. Billions have been spent so far. It obviously had a big impact on the war. No one thought Russian military would fall short of full victory in few weeks/months. Question remains on the scale of the support going forward. Hardline republicans are asking for limited support. Not a simple question! |
