Comments: Below, was the special rules regarding the knockout stages: Since we are entering the Knockout Stage of the World Cup, there is a new rule that we need to take into account for scoring. - All the old rules for Group Stage Games still apply. - However since there can be no "Draw" results for these games (we will go to extra time, and PKs, if needed); we also need to state that in our predictions. - In other words, if you are predicting a "Draw" between 2 teams, you also have to stay who wins the PKs. Doing so correctly, you will be granted an extra point. For example: you can predict Netherlands and USA will finish in a draw (say 1-1), and if this happens after extra time, you will get your maximum 6 points. But in this case, you also need to state which team will win the PKs. If you guess that correctly, that is worth an extra point for a total of 7 points.

Comments: I am posting again the rules of the World Cup Prediction contest. I will be asking to see who wants to participate and show off their football knowledge and skills in predicting games at the highest level. World Cup Prediction Contest rules: All contestants are to provide their predictions a day BEFORE the games start. Depending on the start of the games, the time of these deadlines may change. 1) The predictions should be posted on this Board for all to observe, approximately a day before the games begin; 2) Group Stage games are played during Match Day-1 thru 13. All games for a particular Match-Day should be posted at the same time. For example, on Match-Day 2, there are three games scheduled (IRAN vs. England; Wales vs. USA and Senegal vs. Netherlands). I need all three games predicted at the same time, and before the first game is played; 3) Contestants will earn points based on the accuracy of their prediction. The highest score one can earn from a single game is 6 points; 4) How to earn these points: i- If one correctly predicts the outcome of a game (Win by a team, Loss or Draw), they will earn 3 points; ii- One point is awarded for correctly predicting the # of Goals Team-A scores; iii- One point is awarded for correctly predicting the # of Goals Team-B scores; iv- One point is awarded for correctly predicting the # of Goal differences between the two teams; Example #1: let's say IRAN is playing USA and defeats them by the score of 2-0 (which is probably going to be my prediction :) In this case I get the full six points for that prediction. If someone else predicts an IRAN win of 1-0 over USA in the above example, they will earn 4 points (3 points for correctly predicting an IRAN win, and one more point for correctly predicting that USA scored "0" points against TM). Example #2: Let's say Argentina and Mexico draw 1-1. Someone predicted that Argentina will win against Mexico with the score of 2-1. In this case, this contestant will only be awarded 1 point for correctly predicting number of goals Mexico scored (1), and nothing more. Last Example: Let's say Croatia beats Canada with the score of 3-1. Someone predicted that win, but with a different score of 2-0. They will earn 3 points for the correct outcome (a win by Croatia), and another point for correctly guessing the # of Goal difference (which is 2), for a total of 4 points. I am sure there will be other questions, but after the first couple of Match-Days, everyone will be fully aware of the rules. Let me know if I can answer any questions.
Comments: An oil tanker was boarded by armed individuals near the Gulf of Oman on Thursday and appeared to change course toward Iranian waters, according to the U.K. Marine Trade Operations. The UKMTO reported on social media that an unnamed tanker was boarded by four or five unauthorized people early Thursday at 50 nautical miles east of Sohar, Oman. TankerTrackers.com identified the vessel as the St. Nikolas, previously known as the Rajan, which was previously involved in an incident of allegedly violating U.S. sanctions in 2022.
Comments: The IRNA news agency carried a statement by the intelligence ministry saying the main suspect who planned the Jan. 3 attack in Kerman, a city southeast of the Iranian capital of Tehran, was a Tajik national known by his alias Abdollah Tajiki. Tajiki reportedly entered the country in mid-December by crossing Iran's southeast border, and left two days before the attack, after making the bombs. One bomber first detonated his explosives at the ceremony in Kerman, then another attacked 20 minutes later as emergency workers and other people tried to help the wounded from the first explosion, according to The Associated Press. The report identified one of the bombers by his family name of Bozrov, saying the man was 24 years old and had Tajik and Israeli nationality. It said he also arrived in Iran by crossing the southeastern border after months of training by the Islamic State terrorist group in Afghanistan. The report added that authorities were still trying to identify the second suicide-bomber while 35 other people have been taken into custody in relation to the attacks.
