Comments: I wonder which Iran team will show up tomorrow against UAE. Based on my theory of alternating games; since they played poorly last time, they should play very well tomorrow. If so, I expect 2-0 win for us, another shut out. If something goes wrong early in the game, an unfortunate PK against us or a red card, then we will struggle, and be lucky to get a tie.
Comments: UAE has been under Iran domination. Head to head record is [14-3-1, 26-4] in favor of Iran. The last 5 games Iran has won with a shutout. Their only win against Iran came in a friendly, they won 3-1 back in 1988. Nobody will believe it if they win tomorrow

Comments: Very low quality but exciting match today between Tajikistan and Lebanon. Tajiks scored 4 goals but 2 were ruled out by automated offside, but eventually came back to win it 2-1. So for the first time ever 2 Persian speaking teams are in the knock out stage of an Asian Cup!
Comments: As some famous Bill once said: To lose or not to lose? That is the question I would like to see GN start with his 'ideal/strongest' line up tomorrow to put it to a test drive for the knock out stage and fix the bugs he may find. But he has an excuse now to put up his C team and claim he is resting his players for the knock out stage. The problem is with a draw we still win the group and have to go through the rough road to get to the final. Further, the UAE is not interested in winning this game either so they will put up their D team. So I suggest GN do what I like him to do and go with full force against UAE and give Taremi and Azmoun a chance to get a hat trick!
Comments: Today’s results make the calculation more interesting. 2nd ranked team in our group would have an easier path than the first to semifinal! Of course, if any team wants to go all the way, they should be able to beat anyone!
