Comments: Inter Milan is working on finalizing the few remaining knots before securing the services of Iranian striker Mahdi Taremi. The 31-year-old is currently running on an expiring contract. Thus, he will leave Porto at the end of the season and sign for a new club as a free agent. For their part, the Nerazzurri have been lurking since the summer. While a deal never materialized in August due to Porto’s asking price, Inter never abandoned its pursuit of Taremi, reveals FcInter1908. In recent weeks, Inter has made an important breakthrough in its negotiations with the player’s entourage. Most major Italian news sources now expect the striker to join Simone Inzaghi’s ranks ahead of next season. According to FcInter1908, the two parties are now ironing out the final details before reaching the finish line. This season, Taremi has thus far contributed with six goals and four assists across all competitions for the Dragons.

Comments: Shahryar, You have 3 points from group stage. Not much but better than nothing!!!
Comments: The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) has fired 12 aid workers accused of involvement in the Oct. 7 attacks in Israel, and has launched an investigation. U.N. Secretary-General António Guterres said yesterday that he was "horrified" by the allegations and that those found to have been involved would be referred for potential criminal prosecution. Australia, Italy and the U.K. joined the U.S. and Canada today in suspending funding to the agency. UNRWA employs about 13,000 Palestinians and runs schools and shelters and distributes aid across Gaza. Houthis fired at a U.S. warship for the first time yesterday, as well as a British oil tanker. The U.K. said it reserves "the right to respond appropriately,” along with its allies. In a pre-dawn strike today, the U.S. said it destroyed an anti-ship ballistic missile that was aimed at the Red Sea and ready to launch, and Houthis reported U.S. raids in the port city of Al-Hudaydah. CIA Director William Burns is set to meet with Qatar's prime minister and the director of Mossad this weekend in an effort to break a deadlock in talks for a new hostage deal with Hamas. The International Court of Justice has ordered Israel to take all measures within its power to prevent acts of genocide against Palestinians, but stopped short of demanding a cease-fire. South Africa, which brought the case to the ICJ, called yesterday's interim ruling a "decisive victory" towards justice for Palestinians. Israel called the implication it is perpetuating genocide "false" and "outrageous." More than 26,000 people have been killed in Gaza since the war began, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry. More than 64,400 have been injured, and thousands more are missing and presumed dead. Israeli military officials said at least 220 soldiers have been killed during the ground invasion of Gaza. About 1,200 people were killed and about 240 hostages were taken after Hamas launched multipronged attacks on Israel on Oct. 7.
Comments: Of course you can. I’ll adjust it
Comments: Zinsky Jan, I know I had not offcially partcipated in the prediction contest during the Group stage, but I did predict Iran games to be all wins, although I could not find a post for our first game against Palestine. I was wondering if I could get credit for the ![]() Here are a couple of my posts prior to the games. First is Iran vs UAE:
Comments: Iran usually alternates playing good and bad in these tournaments. we are sometimes "Good", Bad", and "Good" again, which means 6 points and advancement. Sometimes, we are "Bad", "Good" and "Bad", which means only 3 points and elimination (case in point, last World Cup). In this tournament, we played so far Good and Bad, but still have 6 points (very lucky!). Our 3rd game should be Good and our team should step up against UAE. I expect a good game on Tuesday and a win for us; a 2-1 win, and perhaps even 3-1. The 2nd one is the game between IRAN and Hong Kong:
Comments: Zinsky, Iran should win today's game rather easily, but I don't think they will score too many goals. I am thinking 1-0 or perhaps 2-0 for Iran. Iraq has always been a tough team. Today based on the highlights that I saw, they were very "hungry"; perhaps it is their coach that brought this for them (the value of a proper coach cannot be underestimated; see CQ). Their win over Japan was certainly an upset, but not completely unpredictable. Japan will bounce back though; they are very disciplined and determined.
