Comments: That must have been a heartbreak for the Tajiks. I hope they can recover. My prediction was a tie at the end of regulation (plus 30 minutes), and PK win for Tajiks. Let's see if that holds true. I figured that UAE must have had a let down after the Iran game, so they could not beat Tajiks in regulations. I then thought that they would tie the game at the end and feel jubilant and that usually means they feel they got lucky to go to PKs, and that usually means they lose. I am hoping my theories come true..., so far so good :)

Comments: Lol, That is a very good and accurate observation of our team; I could not agree with you more. This may be CQ'a last hurrah, so to speak. And if he can identify our next generation of players, train them and prepare them for what is to come, we will be in very good shape for the next 10 years, or 2 or 3 World Cups. The next World Cup with 48 teams has quite a different setup. I am not sure exactly how it is going to work yet and how it affects teams in the middle (like ours). But I have the feeling we have a better chance of advancing, and could sure use CQ's experience.
Comments: Shahryar our current team is old and very soon many of them will retire. All these players are product of CQ and Ghalenoyi did not add any players. That just shows what a bunch of great players CQ developed. I think we should hire CQ to identify talents and develop another young team for us for years to come.

Comments: I do not necessarily agree with the age limit on any thing. People simply age differently. Many coaches at the age of 70 are much more vibrant and effective than other coaches at age 50. The key is you need someone with the right experience, pedigree and strategic plans and knowledge. Someone who knows the players and cares for them. The only one in the history of out football that matches all those criteria has been so far one individual; CQ.
Comments: No one with real "Football integrity" should ever think about MLS. They will pay a lot of money, but as we all know, money and integrity are on opposite sides of the spectrum.
Comments: btw I heard rumors that Real Salt Lake of MLS, YES you heard it right, MLS is interested in Beiranvand. Beiranvand should stay in Perspolis.
Comments: I agree about CQ. But I think he is old. I think anyone above 70 should stay away from coaching and politics. I don’t think someone in his 70s has the prowess to teach kids in their 20s.
Comments: Lol, You are correct, and I liked the way you said it about GN; that his team cannot respond to pressure in the way CQ's teams did. That speaks of maturity and intelligence of a coach. On a related side note, is CQ still coaching or looking for a job? Deep inside, I am still hoping we can get him for the next World Cup.

Comments: I think I had predicted a tie game between the Tajiks and UAE with UAE losing in the PKs. But if the scoreline remain as it is, I will still be happy :) On another note, I am worried about Iran's game against Syria. Historically, we have done very well against them. The last 4 games, we beat them 3-0, 1-0, 3-0, and 5-0. So, it seems like a easy win for us, right? Somehow I get the feeling this game will be different; very different. First, under this coach, we do not have the maturity to move forward, if something strange happens, like an early red card or PK against us. Also, I saw Syria play earlier in this tournament and they played very hungry, more than I ever saw them. Now, talent wise and experience wise, they do not match our team, but this means our team has to play their "A" game to beat them. And my theory of Iran "oscillating" between good and bad games, means this will be our "bad" game. I just hope the week-Long bream between the games, gives them anew perspective (like what they got against Australia all those years ago when the fans stormed the field and we got a break followed by two goals :)
Comments: Lol is correct that Tajiks are in fact not Persians, although they speak Farsi. By the way, I am not sure if there are in fact two people with the "Lol" names here; if so, I do not know why. If true, that is unfortunate, since all the Lol comments are interesting and worth reading and if they are indeed two of them, they should both get the credit they deserve separately and individually.
