Comments: به گزارش خبرنگار مهر، مرحله یک شانزدهم نهایی جام حذفی فوتبال کشور امروز با برگزاری ۳ دیدار به پایان رسید و پس از برتری سپاهان برابر شمس آذر، شکست استقلال از مس رفسنجان و پیروزی پرسپولیس برابر نفت و گاز گچساران ۱۶ تیم راه یافته به مرحله یک هشتم نهایی این مسابقات مشخص شدند. در مرحله یک هشتم نهایی جام حذفی ۹ تیم از لیگ برتر و ۷ تیم از لیگ دسته اول به رقابت خواهند پرداخت. به این ترتیب تیمهای پرسپولیس، سپاهان اصفهان، تراکتور تبریز، گلگهر سیرجان، ملوان بندر انزلی، ذوبآهن اصفهان، پیکان، آلومینیوم اراک، مس رفسنجان و هوادار از لیگ برتر و تیمهای سایپا، چادرملوی اردکان، فجر سپاسی شیراز، مس کرمان، مس سونگون ورزقان و استقلال آبیپوش ملاثانی از لیگ دسته اول در مرحله یک هشتم نهایی جام حذفی با هم رقابت میکنند. تیم قهرمان جام حذفی جواز حضور در لیگ قهرمانان فوتبال آسیا در فصل آینده را کسب خواهد کرد. در آخرین دوره این رقابتها پرسپولیس با برتری برابر استقلال در دیدار نهایی عنوان قهرمانی را به دست آورده بود.

Comments: Yes, I noticed that too. Aside from the numbers, the patterns of participation with big cities mostly absent is what one would expect. Trump won exactly in this way with the help of some gerrymandering and ridiculous assignment of delegates to states with very low population as compared to say California and NY.

Comments: The voting percentage ranking of each state in Iran that was posted yesterday indicates that the voting and election dynamics in Iran and the US are very similar. If you notice the top states with large voter participation are small states with small towns and population. The first big state that shows up in the middle of the rankings is Khorasan Razavi, with Mashhad as it's capitol. But the rest of the big cities and states are way down in the bottom, that includes Tehran, Tabriz, Isfahan, Shiraz, Ahvaz, etc... That's exactly the dynamics that helped Trump win the elections in 2016, he lost all the big cities in LA, NY, Phily, Chicago, Boston, SF, etc...but won enough of the small and rural towns to win the electoral votes and become President. The same thing is happening in Iran, big city voters either don't vote or vote for the 'non-conformist' candidates but the establishment candidates will eventually win since they got the votes in small states and small towns!
