Comments: Shahryar, I’m in Boston area. I do miss the weather and good Persian food but not much else!!!
Comments: Shahryar jAn, I am game. I will definitely head up your way soon and let you know. We have a bunch of people in southern California and would be great to get together and discuss how Zinsky went from something like 4th place in the group stage to the last place! It is one of those mysteries of the universe.
Comments: Good morning everyone. I just came back from the east coast. I still have not seen the game past minute 75. Really happy that Spain won though.
Comments: I know Zinsky Jan, I believe you are in Boston area, which is definitely an improvement to Southern California :) There was a time that we could have worked together, back in and around 2017 for Cymer (ASML). Unfortunately, you contacted me then just as I was about to leave that company and could not use my influence to bring you in. I still think about that and regret that.
Comments: Shahryar Jaan, I would have loved to have lunch with you and the rest of the gang but as you know I haven’t lived in SoCal for the past 6 years or so.
Comments: “ My winning strategy was to pick some ideas from Zinsky at the outset but quickly realized it would go nowhere but way down to the bottom.” That’s cold but fair!!! I went for some risky bets and it did quickly went south! Now, it’s time to get back to reality. Unfortunately, the reality is not as much fun…
Comments: Thank you Farid-LA and LOL for your kind comments. I am glad we were able to have a little bit of fun together in this crazy and uncertain times. I hope the next world Cup will be a completely different story for our Team Melli and they get to shine where everyone can see how talented they are.
Comments: Asian Cup starts on Jan 7, 2027. Zinsky and Rashti should do additional homework to get ready for that contest ![[biggrin]](https://cdn.websitetoolbox.com/images/boards/smilies/biggrin.gif "Big Grin - :D")
Comments: Sharyar Khan, I truly appreciate all your efforts in putting this contest together. I really enjoyed it, and it provided a much-needed distraction from everything that has been going on over the past several months. Btw. My winning strategy was to pick some ideas from Zinsky at the outset but quickly realized it would go nowhere but way down to the bottom. So I changed to lucky guess and it worked!
Comments: Thank you agha Shahryar and all those who participated. I was skeptical to participate but I am glad I did, it was fun
Comments: No matter how we look at it, Farid-LA was the winner. LOL won’t be far behind. I’m not sure if they put any money in the actual contests but I’m sure they would have made good money! Congratulations to all.
Comments: I’m still trying to figure a way to move up the table. Maybe if we combine the group stage (below) with knockout stage, I’ll move up a bit!!!🤪👍🤭 Contestant Total 1 LOL 202 1 Farid-LA 202 3 Perspectives! 199 4 HAMVATAN 190 5 Zinsky 186 5 Daryuish 186 7 Shahryar 173 8 Farid 164 9 Faramarz 159 10 Maghsoud 149 11 Rashti 143 12 Reza 142
Comments: If any of you who participated in this contest are in Southern California, I would love to have lunch with you and it would be my treat.
Comments: Our final prediction contest results is as follows. 1) Farid-LA left everyone in a dust with 134 points in the knockout stage, finishing as our champion. Congratulations, amazing insight into games. 2) Farid did a great job being in the 2nd place with 116 points. 3) Perspectives! finished in 3rd place only 5 points behind Farid.
But as I said earlier, everyone is a winner in my eyes and this contest would not have been possible without everyone's participation. As final word, I want to say I am very proud of our Team Melli. They came in under the worst conditions, unfavorable hosts, poorest travel accommodations, no league practice and did not accept any defeats. What a team and what a character. We could have also easily won all three games, had there been less partiality against us.
Comments: Thanks to all doostan for participating and playing in our 5th World Cup Prediction contest. As far as I am concerned you are all winners. For people who love the game and in spite of hardships that was made for our beloved IRAN's Team Melli and bad calls to keep them sway, we still came back and continued. It is because we do not quit..., Iran never quits.
Comments: Congratulations to Spain for becoming the World Champions. They deserved it. They won it without having any stars, and as Faramarz said, their team was the star. They won by playing good and clean football without any controversy. They did not cheat and they did not get favorable FIFA's VAR calls.
Comments: Thanks Zinsky Jan, It was worth it to make my doostan and hamvatanan happy :)
Comments: شعار روز: مسی حلبی شد
Comments: Shahryar Jaan, Thank you again for keeping this WC more exciting and fun. I know it was a lot of work but you did an amazing job. 🙏🙏🙏
Comments: My last minute substitution helped Rashti!!! 🤪🤪🤪 Not the best final but the better team won. |
