In my opinion, the great majority defended Iran against Iraq because Iran was attacked. But surely there were also some who did so for religious reasons.

for this reason, I do not think it will be any different now. There will be a group that will defend Iran because of the religious reasons, but the great majority will defend Iran because Iran has been attacked.

Also, just like before, there were people who were happy back then that Iraq attacked Iran. I am sure that there will be some who will be happy about that now.

Good thing we live in America. Thank god we can speak freely without fear of persecution! Maybe not!!!
My daughter’s friend is a student, becoming a doctor. She is also Palestinian. She does speak her mind online and in person. Her speech is not violent or offensive. She talks about the suffering of the Palestinians and the stupidity of occupation.
Another student, a Jewish girl, complained about her and out of the blue the university put her on probation. She was asked to write an essay and apologize to all Jewish students for offending them!!!
Freedom of speech! Not…

Relax! I was never pro IRI (then or now). I was and am pro Iran. I was not political during the revolution. I knew when you put religion in charge, nothing will go right. I suppose I could see the future back then. Not because I was smart but because I read history.

I think Iranians were always behind the revolution and united. I think after green movement we saw the division. I loved Iran during Khatami. I think he was the best president.

45 years ago did not matter if it was Russia UK USA Iraq or Saudi Arabia or Israel. We were solid behind our young revolution. Were you anti IRI then? Were you part of any leftist group? Why did you hate IRI then? And what changed? When did you leave iran? Did you do jebheh?

Yes Zinsky at that time the revolution was young. And we were totally supporting the revolution and we were behind the revolution except a few like you. I had to flee because my father forced me so I don't go to war. But we had traitors who were mostly pro shah or Bakhtiar who were happy about Iraq attacking but people knew that they sold their souls to Iraq. Now after 45 years we see that the number one enemy of Iranian people who also slaughtered own citizen by thousands is IRI. The best way to see it is count how many innocent Iranian people Israel took away vs that number by Islamic Republic. At the end no one supports war and as Esmaillion said no one will feel pity about IRI even if they are attacked.

I was back home when Iraq attached Iran. As much as I hated IRI, it was hard not to support Iran against a foreign enemy.

I wonder how many people took the Iraqi's side during that war! Is it different if it is Israel or USA?

One thing I learned over the past 40+ years is that in international diplomacy, nothing is as it looks like. It's more like magic. They show you one thing while doing something completely different. Logic, as we know it, is not logical to the people playing the game. The more one digs in, the less one finds. It is purposely designed to be confusing, illogical and unbelievable.

Mokhles ahga Faramarz. If you watch the end of the video, he has videos of supporters. One guy from Soleimaniye (Iraqi Kurdistan) called in to say that he learned Farsi to follow this podcast. ❤️🌹

lol the Brazilian forward of Porto is just trash. He is not only technically nowhere near Taremi, but also destroys team chemistry by not passing to certain players, especially Taremi. This often leaves the team with wasted scoring chances.

Maghsoud, I love listening to this guy. He is really balanced. This video, in particular is so interesting. It walks the audience through the phases of Pahlavi era when he was fighting the cheriks and mojahedins who were trained by Palestinians using and used mosad to train Savak, all teh way to the era where he allowed Russia to use Iran's airspace and supply Egypt with weapons and to the era where he financially and logistically helped emam mousa sadr and the fatah organization! Just amazing! I did not know most of this.

Zinsky jAn, exactly my fear. I am afraid that we are already at that point. Just look at our own little community and see how people are cheering and celebrating the death of people. This will only brew psychotic leaders. Unfortunately, this has already been done and continues to be done.

Faramarz,
We really live in a strange times. I can’t name one leader that I respect these days. From the super powers to smaller countries. It seems the world has gone crazy! Every single one of them is fighting for themselves. No one cares for people and their country. I’m just worried that at some point we will end up with leaders who decide that they can kill millions for their benefit. Humanity has gone wild!!!

What a country of gol o bolbol. A criminal who is standing on trial in a criminal court, is allowed to run for presidency.

Some of what he is standing in trial for is exactly for abusing the president's office to conduct illegal acts for his own benefit against the interests of his own people [biggrin].

His trials are for virtually all the crimes listed in the books, including embezzlement, tax evasion, violation of almost all his business contracts, steeling top secret documents from the white house and handing them over to Russia and god knows who else for a pretty penny, and the list keeps going on and on and becoming even more colorful, like paying off a hooker to shut up and not to spill the beans [rofl]. Some of the best crimes are not listed because they all do it, like taking bribes from foreign governments and entities and selling off his own country and people.[rofl] What an amazing cradle of democracy!
