Comments: Wow, only Thailand and Vietnam are not from Iran in the Elite eight round of the Asian futsal. Well done! Japan is a big miss. Thailand has probably been the third best team in Asia for the past few years. I think they will present the biggest challenge. The rest should not be difficult. But Rashti's statement about teh team being crap worries me.
Comments: People’s perception about west has changed drastically in the past 10-15 years. It’s very true in Iran as well. I remember talking about retiring in Iran with my cousins. Back then they would look at me like I’m crazy. People in their 50s were thinking about moving to US or Canada. This time, none of them were even remotely thinking living here is suitable to them. I’m not sure exactly what they have learned but they are now encouraging me to move back. For many people living here the biggest issue is to convince the wife/kids to think about possibly of moving back home. For me that’s not a problem. The whole family is ready to move ASAP! Sense of belonging with loving family around is just too strong even with all the issues back home. I’m thinking 6 months in Iran, 4 months in Europe and the rest in US for possible health check up and such. I need 2-3 years to make sure all ducks are in order.
Comments: So in Asian futsal most teams are improving except for Korea, they have always been bad and they are still bad. And Japan has gone backwards, they are out of WC and could not make it out of their group, they were crying today at the end of their 1-1 draw with Tajikistan today!

Comments: Iran's futsal team beat Kuwait 4-0 and advanced with perfect record. In the process they gave AFG a gift and they advanced over Kuwait on GD. So for the first time ever there will 3 Persian speaking countries in the 1/4 finals of the Asian Futsal Cup and if all goes as it should there will be 2 Persian speaking countries in the next futsal WC! I can show that highlight but I think it's more fun to watch the U18 girls come back and beat UZB in their match in the CAFA U18 tournament ![]()

Comments: Hossein Hosseini, goalkeeper for Iran's Esteghlal football club, has been called to the Football Federation's disciplinary committee to explain an incident in which he embraced a female fan. The event occurred on April 12, in a match between Esteghlal FC and Aluminium Arak when a young female fan evaded security by running onto the field and embracing Hosseini as a means of escaping guards chasing her for not wearing the compulsory hijab. The act led to a scuffle involving Hosseini and special unit forces. The disciplinary committee responded to the incident by suspending Hosseini for one session and imposing a fine of three billion rials (approximately $4,500).. It was deemed "unprofessional and beyond the legal duties of a player". In a public reaction, the goalkeeper's captain made a sarcastic remark about the committee's decision, stating, "I will pay the fine, for the sake of that lady." Further complicating matters, IRNA, Iran's official news agency, reported that Hosseini might face additional penalties due to his recent public comments, suggesting that his previous suspension could now be enforced. Legal analysts have noted that the disciplinary committee's actions appear to be in violation of existing regulations as Hosseini did not breach any specific laws during the incident, other than breaking Islamic rules about opposite sexes being in physical contact. The case has brought to light the broader issue of women's access to stadiums in Iran—a topic of significant debate and international concern for several years. Since five years ago, FIFA has been urging Iran to allow women into football stadiums. However, the Football Federation and other governmental bodies have resisted the changes, often citing “inadequate infrastructure” as a reason for non-compliance. Despite occasional allowances for controlled entry of women into stadiums, the ongoing restrictions predominantly limit their presence, leading to sporadic participation in matches.
Comments: Several rockets have been fired from Iraq towards a US military base in northeastern Syria. The attack, launched from the town of Zummar late on Sunday, was the first since early February to target US troops, when Iranian-backed groups in Iraq brought to an end a campaign that had seen regular strikes against the US-led international coalition. The resumed hostilities came a day after Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani returned from a visit to the United States where he met with President Joe Biden.
