AMSTERDAM (Reuters) - The International Criminal Court's prosecutor's office called on Friday for an end to what it called intimidation of its staff, saying such threats could constitute an offence against the world's permanent war crimes court.

In the statement posted on social media platform X, the ICC prosecutor's office said all attempts to impede, intimidate or improperly influence its officials must cease immediately. It added that the Rome Statute, which outlines the ICC's structure and areas of jurisdiction, prohibits these actions.

The statement, which named no specific cases, followed Israeli and American criticism of the ICC's investigation into alleged war crimes committed during the Israel-Hamas conflict in the Gaza Strip, a Palestinian enclave.

Neither Israel nor its main ally the U.S. are members of the court, and do not recognise its jurisdiction over the Palestinian territories. The court can prosecute individuals for alleged war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide.

Last week Israel voiced concern that the ICC could be preparing to issue arrest warrants for government officials on charges related to the conduct of its war against Hamas in Gaza.

Foreign Minister Israel Katz said Israel expected the ICC to "refrain from issuing arrest warrants against senior Israeli political and security officials", adding: "We will not bow our heads or be deterred and will continue to fight."

On Friday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said any ICC decisions would not affect Israel's actions but would set a dangerous precedent.

In October, ICC Chief Prosecutor Karim Khan said it had jurisdiction over any potential war crimes committed by Hamas fighters in Israel and by Israeli forces in Gaza, which has been ruled by Hamas since 2007.

A White House spokesperson said on Monday the ICC had no jurisdiction "in this situation, and we do not support its investigation".

Israel surely catching up to IRI! Never mind, they don't kill their own people, only others. So, it's ok!

Aprominent Palestinian doctor from Gaza’s al-Shifa Hospital has died in an Israeli jail after more than four months of detention, according to the enclave’s health ministry and groups advocating for Palestinian prisoners.

Adnan al-Barash, the head of orthopedics at Gaza’s largest medical facility, was detained by Israeli forces while temporarily treating patients at al-Awda Hospital in the north of the territory, the Palestinian Prisoners Affairs Committee and the Palestinian Prisoner’s Society said in a joint statement on Thursday.

The two groups blamed Israel for “killing” another medical worker and described it as an “assassination”.

With his death, Gaza’s Ministry of Health said the total number of medical personnel who have been killed since Israel’s war on Gaza broke out in October has reached 496.

“The killing of Dr al-Barash would not be the last crime in light of the complete secrecy of the condition of prisoners in prisons, especially those arrested from the Gaza Strip,” it said.

Francesca Albanese, the United Nations special rapporteur on human rights in the occupied Palestinian territories, said she was “extremely alarmed” after learning about al-Barash’s death.

“No Palestinian is safe under Israel’s occupation today. How many more lives will have to be taken before UN Member States, especially those demonstrating genuine concern for human rights globally, act to PROTECT the Palestinians?”

Iranian-American football coach Afshin Ghotbi is reportedly poised to work as Iran national football team’s assistant.
Team Melli head coach Amir Ghalenoei had previously shown his interest in working with Ghotbi.
The media reports suggest that the 60-year-old coach has reached an agreement with Iran’s football federation.
Ghotbi currently leads Vancouver FC in the Canadian Premier League.
Iran assistant Hamid Motahari has been recently named as the coach of Tractor football team and Ghotbi will probably replace him in the national team.

Who knew? Dubai might turn into a tropical paradise!!!
Another round of heavy rain returned to the United Arab Emirates on Thursday, forcing widespread business closures and flight cancellations. The storm comes just two weeks after record-setting rainfall triggered damaging floods in several parts of the country, which killed at least four people in the UAE and brought the bustling region to a halt. The floods also killed at least 19 others in Oman, including 10 children whose school bus was swept away in the deluge. The rainfall was not as heavy as the event two weeks ago, but Dubai experienced nearly an inch in 12 hours — more than twice what it usually receives over the months of April and May combined. Authorities have ordered remote working and studying in affected areas today.

Turkey, India and China loving this. They are using this to sell their version of “Persian silk rugs” at much lower price.
The historic Kashan bazaar in central Iran once sat on a major caravan route, its silk carpets known the world over. But for the weavers trying to get their rugs sold under its ancient arches, their world has only unravelled since the collapse of Iran's nuclear deal with world powers and wider tensions with the West. Rug exports, once exceeding $2 billion two decades ago, have plummeted to less than $50 million in the last Persian year that ended in March, according to government custom figures.

Reza my airline experience is very similar. We had some issue with air france and Delta. Delta boarded us without any issue and we flew to LA but there Air france which was using alitalia staff did not let us on board. We had to come back and go again two days later which then the different staff let us on board with the same ticket! When we got to Iran, I went to air france, the saw the issue (which air france staff in LA could not see or explain) fixed it and had no issues on the way back.

I had a similar experience with the phone though. You cannot do anything by phone. You have to go there yourself.

In general, I cringe when I have to deal with customer service of any airline here. Delta is a bit better but not by a whole lot. In Iran though they are all uniformly quite experienced and good. There is also a systematic problem here that does not exist in Iran (yet). Here, they have taken the tasks of an airport counter, or an airline office, and split it into several, and then outsourced it to different organizations. One does not have any control over another. For instance, in LA, the only think Air France staff told us to do was to call the company's customer support. They could not do anything in the airport! This used to not be the case. In Iran though, those tasks are not split and so, the staff have a much greater range of abilities!

It may depend on the person as well. I really enjoy the family gathering and environment. So, I really miss seeing everyone in one place, at least once a month. But when we go there, it happens more frequently. Those gatherings are always happy occasions and people from all walks of life put their differences together and get along. The level of happiness that I sense there I do not in gatherings here where a lot of more for show and tell rather than genuine. Seems like Iranians here have managed to retain the worst of both cultures making them some of the less desirable people for me. So, for me there is attraction in one direction and push away from stuff here in the same direction. So, I have two concurrent reasons to miss being home.

It's a good thing Iran U23 did not qualify for the Paris Olympics because Isreal has qualified and they are  grouped with the #1 team from Asia which is Japan or Uzbekistan!

Group A: France - USA - New Zealand - winner AFC/CAF playoff(Indonesia vs Guinea)

Group B: Argentina - Morocco - Iraq - Ukraine

Group C: AFC2 - Spain - Egypt - Dominican Republic

Group D: AFC1 - Paraguay - Mali - Isreal
