Comments: For me, it is not that important on how many things I disagree with someone. What is important to be is how they handle the disagreements. If they become militant, lie, smear and label, I run away. If they avoid that, stay respectful, and tolerate the disagreement, I stick around.

Comments: Zinsky jAn, as human beings, we agree on more things than disagree with anyone. 85% is an underestimation of what you agree on with any person. It is the remaining small percentage that their fierce leaders pounce on and drive a wedge. If you disagree with someone on 15% of stuff, you should stay far away from the person since that is so much difference that can be exploited. Often with Trump fans, I find myself only disagreeing on a few (may be hand full) of subjects. He is a great human being and has learned how to make persian food better than I can. He made kubideh for everyone (20 people) last weekend on a football party. He and I royally get along in most things. But there are a few subjects that I avoid talking to him about. One of them is covid vaccines.
Comments: Faramarz, We as Iranians are not very good at communicating with people we don’t like or agree with. This attitude has spread and I see it here as well. These days talking about Trump could end in a fistfight! Reality, as you describe it well, is that no one is 100% right or wrong. There are common ground if we talk and willing to listen. My issue with some is that even if I agree with their views 85% but disagree on the remaining 15%, they see me as enemy! They need to attack and put me in my place since I’m not 100% on their side! I remember growing up, we had a group of 5-6 friends who were divided on red and blue teams. On the day of the game between them, we would not talk! Any other day, we were best friends. I’m in contact with 4 of them now. One died during the war and the other one disappeared (we can’t find him). That is the type of personality I’m looking for in people I hang out with.
