Iran’s chances for any medal starts early next week. It’s funny how wrestling, weightlifting and martial arts are always last in any competition. Those are the best chances for Iran to win a medal.

We have to be honest and careful about what we support. We can’t and should not support everything just because of politics or blind belief.
The issue of gender identity is one that is getting lots of attention. I, personally, don’t care who wants to be what. It’s their choice. On the other hand, letting a previously male boxer compete as a woman just because he/she had a surgery to remove the private part seems extreme. It happened in Paris.
It is rare but when it happens, it gives the extreme right a great excuse to go crazy. Common sense is the only way to make life better for everyone.

I really can’t tell if people truly believe in Trump being the savior or they have alternative motives. There are some who are just assholes and enjoy someone like themselves in charge. Others just want to make more money and pay less taxes. Those I get, they are others who truly believe he cares for them. I don’t think he cares for anyone other than himself.
All the rest of the bullshit is just that. Immigration, crime, social issues are just an excuse to get people excited. International policies are not president’s choice but they act like they are in control!

As far as Iranian's chances in this Olympic, I would predict 4 medals total. 1 Gold, 1 Silver and 2 Bronze.

Iran's Men saber fencing team came very close to medal but lost the bronze medal match to hosts France. That's the closest so far.
Very early Thur. morning, 12AM to be precise, Iran's Hanieh Rostamian will compete in the prelims for the 25M Pistol event. She is in the top 5 in the world and should make it to the final 8. That's the next best chance for a medal.
As far as Iran's medal totals we have to wait until late next week. My estimation goes like this(G,S,B):

1. The least optimistic will be: 2,1,2
2. With a little luck it will: 3,2,3
3. The most optimistic case will be: 5,1,6

Our best chances are in GR wrestling followed by FS wrestling. Weightlifting and TKW have a chance and sports climbing is a long shot [biggrin]

The Israeli Mossad assassinated Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh by detonating an explosive device planted in advance in his bedroom at the Iranian government official residence in Tehran, two sources with knowledge of the issue confirmed to Axios.
Why it matters: The fact that the Mossad managed to plant the explosive device in a high-security facility shows not only the deep penetration of Israeli intelligence services inside Iran but also the vulnerabilities of the Iranian intelligence and security apparatus.
The details about the planted explosive device were first reported by the New York Times and confirmed to Axios by two sources.
Driving the news: The explosion that killed Haniyeh took place on Tuesday night, but the official announcement of his assassination was published several hours later on Wednesday morning.
The initial statement from Hamas said Haniyeh was killed in an Israeli airstrike.
Iranian media first reported three missiles were launched by a drone and later that the missile was launched from outside of Iran.
Behind the scenes: The sources said Israeli intelligence learned which facility — and which exact room — Haniyeh stayed in during his visits to Tehran.
The bomb was planted in the room in advance, the sources said.
They added that the bomb was a high-tech device that used artificial intelligence.
It was detonated remotely by Mossad operatives who were on Iranian soil after receiving intelligence that Haniyeh was indeed in the room.
The IRGC said it has opened an investigation around the incident.
Israel didn't inform the U.S. or any other ally in advance of the assassination.

Iran’s reformist President Masoud Pezeshkian has vowed to “normalise” economic relations with the international community by seeking the removal of US sanctions, in a marked departure from the hardline stance of his predecessor.
“I will not rest until these unjust sanctions are lifted,” Pezeshkian said on Tuesday after being sworn in before parliament. “We want to normalise our economic relations with the world.”
