Comments: "they believe the next guy can fix things (cost of living) quickly by making promises that are purely baseless. They truly believe lowering immigration and tariffs could reduce inflation. For some, it’s too much to do some research " This is definitely very true. And, I know many who blame the "economy" on immigrants. They take jobs, etc. And it is also true that the next guy will fix things. This is always true. It was even true for Biden last election. Somehow the idea-less Biden was going to fix all the wrong that Trump did.
Comments: Faramarz, I agree and disagree with what you are saying about economy and voters. I agree some use it as an excuse for many other reasons. On the other hand, and possibly more importantly, they see economy as cost of living. They usually blame the current administration for rising prices. They don’t realize that prices go higher for million reasons that might or might not have to do with the government in charge for 4 years. Even worse, they believe the next guy can fix things (cost of living) quickly by making promises that are purely baseless. They truly believe lowering immigration and tariffs could reduce inflation. For some, it’s too much to do some research
Comments: Now what are the driving social issues for the democrats? Clearly abortion was not enough. What drives the party of "we are not republicans"? "We are zionists" is also not enough for them since there are many jews who also believe that Biden was a war criminal in supporting israel. One struggles to find issues that drive the mass "nonrepublican" voters to win elections. There is no common denominator.
Comments: Busy day today! I think it is obvious that the turnout and voting is not about economy. This is quite clear since most who vote for Trump know he is bad for them economically but they still vote for him. Economy is an easy one to blame though. When asked or polled, this is what most say. Or the stupid media, when they do not have the answers this is what they blame. But the reality is that Americans do not understand economy to vote based on that. Other than "I think Trump is good for economy" they cannot say anything intelligently about why one candidate is better or worse for the economy and more importantly their own economy. I think there are hidden reasons why people vote the way they vote, many of which, they cannot discuss on TV or a poll. Or they mention another reason that is close to it. For instance, no one is going to say on TV that I feel threatened by migrants and I want them out. No one is going to say I think democrats are insane to allow same sex marriage and I think it should be illegal. In my opinion these hidden issues are quite prevalent and drive votes but no one will own up to them. I am not saying that these hidden reasons are all bad and actually agree with some of them. But usually social and cultural issues drive the votes not necessarily the economy in a close election like this.

Comments: Let’s get to the bottom of it. US elections are determine by turnout. Why they turnout or don’t could be argued but reality is that the more people vote the better for Democrats. That is why republicans try so hard to reduce the number of voters by any means possible. Republican voters are more reliable. They show up. Democrats need a good reason to vote and many times, they stay home for various reasons. Looking at the past 3 elections, Trump gained millions of votes each election. 2020 was the year with highest turnout. He lost badly even with millions of new voters for him. 2024 was similar for Trump. He gained some voters but Harris lost much more. The million or so added voters for Trump could be old Biden voters but nearly 10 million loss for Harris are for sure the ones voted for Biden. Having dedicated voters is much more valuable than education or informed voters. Educated/smart voters are better for democracy but due to being who they are, they ask more questions and need to be convinced why they should vote for someone. If they are not fully convinced, they stay home.

Comments: Reza, I believe market will do what it does when news are coming from outside the companies fundamentals. For now, most believe the reputation president and congress will ease regulations and give them tax breaks (keep the ones in the book and some). That is all good news for market. They also believe Trump will force the policy makers to reduce interest rates as low as possible. Once again, good news for the market. Long term, these policies could and more than likely would cause problems but markets are looking for near term gains.
