Comments: I don't think it's only the military that has this problem. It has infected the entire federal governmnet and the big states. All the federal and state contracts have more or less the same problem. In fact people run for city and state government jobs not because they want to serve but basically to get their hands on public funds and then distribute it to the people who supported them who will in turn scratch their backs! Once in a while someone gets exposed but if the American people find out about the scope of the problem they will become totally goozpeech
Comments: My experience with military dallAls has been with Cubic and Sysco, the first of which is in transportation and the second is in food supply. But through insider rigging contracts, both hve enormous contracts with the military and the pentagon. The first suddenly became a security go-to firm for the government and the second successfully argued that food supply for US troops should be secured and so, they are the only ones who can do it.
The first gets contracts as wide-ranging as biotechnology contracts, biomedical basic science research, etc. So, it is much broader than the now two basic functions (transportation and security). When I was working with them on a medical science project, they received new contracts from the government on a daily basis. No matter what domain it was, they would bid for it and win it. They of course had no knowledge of how to do most of those projects. They would just dish it out to a smaller company that sort of knew how to do it and take their cut which usually was in the range of 70% from the top! The second successfully argued that food in Iraq was unsafe. So, during the entire Iraq war (both times) they flew food and water from the USA to Iraq!!! They charged the pentagon an arm and a leg and only delivered a portion of what was promised. Dick Chaney was instrumental in this as he also argued that fuel for the military should not be provided by the Iraqies. So, Hallyburton, Dick's company won the contract to buy oil in Iraq for cheap, transport it to the US, refine it, and then fly it back to Iraq and deliver it to the military when they could have just as easily bough the gasoline for a hundredths of the price from the Iraqi refineries which were all under USA control. Shit hit the fan when it was discovered that: 1. Not all the fuel made it back to the US troops and some more dallAls within the private security force the US was using regularly taking some of the fuel and selling it in the free market to non US customers-so an incredible double dip when you consider how much we paid for the transportation of the fueled back and forth to the middle east. 2. Hallyburton secretly negotiated for exploring for Oil in Iran and was drilling for Oil there and getting the oil for peanuts through the backdoor from Iran to begin with. As soon as Obama was elected, Dick moved his company to Dubai and declared it as an Emirate company escaping from US taxes and court jurisdiction. I think the last accounting of how much money Hallyburton got during the two Iraq war was upwards of a trillion $. All our money. ![]()
Comments: Fred, Observer, and Zinsky, so it seems that the story is the same among allies. This is why it is called a "complex". The military industrial complex is not just the weapons manufacturers, it seems. It also include the "dallAls" that now seems to be much more lucrative than the actual weapons manufacturers. The whole complex is quite large financially and very powerful.

Comments: Military expenditure and waste is a common deficiency everywhere in the world including in Australia. Australian military budget is also drained by contractors. Our Defense's $125 million a day budget is being wasted on contractors, leaving insufficient funds for essential wartime acquisitions. So much waste. This is not just a UK or Australia or US problem. The same is true everywhere else including Russia and including Iran. Except that a country like iran with 90 million people cannot afford it and a U.S. or Australia or UK can. These countries budget is devoured by wasteful military spending. The cost of one banana for each Australian soldier in Iraq in 2008 was 31 AUD. This was when dollar was weak. Dollar becoming super strong since US election and that is not good for global economy. Strong dollar is not necessary good for US economy either. After the big initiative by upcoming administration in the US, our Finance and defense ministers are also following suit to cut waste.
