Comments: As far as Reza Shah, it is all about who wrote the history. He was better than the ones in charge when he took over. He did try to modernize Iran, but war, foreign pressure and other issues made it much harder. Both him and his son were put in place by the west. Expectation was to follow their leads and do as you told. Both did that at the beginning but slowly strayed from being a complete poppet. Both were removed when they strayed too much.

After all they brought cell phones and internet to Iran and connected the people. That argument is laughable in its face.
Comments: This is true. But not everything he did was for the British. Especially the cultural stuff that he did in reducing the influence of religion, all the hospitals and schools that he built were not for the british. At least I do not see the link.
